BDS Reflection

Today I held myself to the idea that I wouldn't watch tv and would give my roommate a dollar if I didn't write, so as soon as I got home and had free time, I felt like this would be a good time to sit down, and get to work. I needed to do notes for my online class, so I decided an hour would work because of the length of the assignment at hand.
I used the double sided notes again, they really seem to work for me. Adding in your own personal thoughts on one side seems to help remembering the key points on the other side. It also gives it a bit of personality and fun that just writing down facts doesn't have. So I took my time to remain comfortable and wrote down only what was absolutely needed to maximize efficiency.
I can feel the stress of waiting for the due date to arrive is already a fleeting feeling. If I can just continue this habit of actually getting stuff done before its due, then slowly and surely I can get things done. Such a new and fresh feeling.

  1. I really like that I've been able to get a jump start on some assignments that I have due this coming fall but the only reason I am working on them is so I have a writing project for this class. I really hope that I can find the motivation to keep ahead of my work instead of go back to my procrastination ways...

  2. Sounds like it's working nicely for you. I especially like the part where you said the anxiety of the deadline is fading away. This is heartening for me, and I'm starting to share in the 'new and fresh feeling' of not having a huge weight looming over me.

For some reason many smaller weights are easier to deal with than one massively gigantic one.

  3. I can see how giving a dollar to your roommate would motivate you to get work done right away! That would motivate me too, I'm WAY too tight with my money so I would make sure to get work done as soon as possible too.

About the double sided notes, that's great that it's working well for you and helping you remember the key points on the other side. I tend to do that approach with history in particular. For some reason, associating my personal thoughts with the facts helps me retain it better. It can be rather fun!
